Heroes of Normandie the Game

The time is summer 1944. The Sun shines on Normandie hedgerows (yes, we write it ‘Normandie’ and not ‘Normandy’ because we are damn French).Gentle wind, fields of bright flowers, and in the background, the romantic staccato of a machine gun fire in the morning.

In these typical Normandie landscapes, thousands of men are about to fight. And die. Bravely like heroes, or cowardly like wussies.

Here, at Devil Pig Games, we don’t give a shit about wussies.

We are only concerned by heroes, those you see in Hollywood Golden Age war movies : “A bridge too far”, “The longest day”, “The Dirty Dozen”, “Patton”, “Kelly’s heroes” and, more recently, “Saving Private Ryan”, “Band of Brothers” and “Inglorious Basterds”.

Here lies our inspiration, here is what we have to offer : blood and guts.

We took Frontiers basic game mechanics and gave it a twitch or two. This gameplay was successful in its time, because of its raw efficiency, and many players enjoyed countless games of galactic rampage. But we wanted to simplify some of its basics, and give depth to its playability (easier said than done). We will give you rhythm, we will give you explosive battles, we will give you the pleasure to butcher your enemies through MG42 walls of lead, and to crush nazi bastards under tons of shells.

Play heroic, play bloody, play Heroes of Normandie !

Heroes of Normandie is a squad/platoon sized game. The game is about opposing two armies controlled by a pair of players. These armies, German on one side and American on the other, are made of infantry, tanks and of course, heroes. Each unit has its own set of unique characteristics and skills depicted on its token. All can be seen at a glance.

Each turn is divided in three phases.

• The first one is about giving hidden orders to your units.

These numbered counters allow the players to choose in which order their units will act.

• Second phase is all about action.

Heroes of Normandie is not one of those old fashioned games where you sit, waiting for the other guy to finish his moves and fire actions. In HoN, players will activate units alternatively. This gives the game its heroic feeling. It’s fun, fast and… bloody.

• Third phase is the Supply phase.

All units that were not given orders are allowed to move. No unit will be left aside.
