Co-Mingling General Units
Co-Mingling General Units Posted on [14/03/2023] à 23:26

I've got a question for those that have been organizing their game pieces for far longer than I.

Do you co-mingle all your general units into a "general units" box, or keep them with the unit they came with?

The reason I ask is that it seems that the general units that come with a specific unit tend to be used with that unit. I'm concerned that I might lose track of them in a crowded "general units" box.

Any validity to this fear, or am I concerned for no good reason?

Do you have a an example of ‘general units that come with a specific unit’?

I know it can be overwhelming in the beginning, especially if you collected a lot of expansions at once, but it will get easier for you when you place generic units together. For example, all light vehicles together (per army).

Setup will be faster when you only have to search one box / drawer (in the official storage system) with all related units, then something that’s split up across multiple storage spots.

Some examples with images:

All (v1 and v2) available generic US army heavy vehicles. As you can see there aren't that many.

The same for light vehicles. There are a few more of these compared to heavy vehicles, but they still fit into one drawer easily. I know, I'm shamelessly promoting the official storage system again. 😈

Here are all v1 and v2 generic infantry units and their recruitment options… again, it fits into one drawer.

As you can see, the bright green bordered counters are from early first edition products.

Ah…

I was worried that the general units might get lost in the mix, but it seems there's not quite enough of them to make that an issue.

Thank-you for the insight into your storage solutions.
