Plain Carnage Errata
Plain Carnage Errata Posted on [23/11/2022] à 19:25

Taken from the BRO Errata topic:

"❗ The following scenarios require a controlled Secondary Objective to remain in play for the entire scenario (being Controlled like a Primary Objective):

– Plain Carnage (P.16-17)

– Le Quesnay (P.20-21)

– Surrounded! (P.22-23)

– Windy at Sept-Vents (P.24-25)"

Plain Carnage is actually pages 10-11. I assume this rule is meant to apply to the scenario A Rough Night (P.16-17) to stop the German player removing the secondary objectives before the American player can reach them?

No, the scenario name is correct, the page numbers presented are just wrong.

Plain Carnage has the victory condition: "The goal of both players is to CONTROL the Secondary Objective."

In fact, the scenario did a bad job of copy/pasting the Primary Objective text here specifically to show this was CONTROL rather than CAPTURE; there is a reference in that first paragraph to "the primary objective" that should be "the Secondary Objective".

A Rough Night (pp.16-17) uses the Secondary Objective markers for a special purpose when the scenario is played as part of a campaign. They are set up so the American player can check them, but only one scores him a Silver Star (bonus points for the campaign). The other two are "decoys" placed by the German player to make finding the "treasure" more difficult. There is no need to use the Control rules, since once the American player gains the medal, there is no further value to the objectives. Victory comes from CONTROLING the Primary Objective only.

Although from my understanding, capture/control doesn't really matter with Plain Carnage. If either happens the game ends with whoever captured/controls as the victor. Correct?

That is true… In this particular scenario, if a player CONTROLS the Objective at the end of a Supply Phase, then they trigger the end of game and win.
