Is HOBR Dead/OOP? [Answer: Yes]
Is this game Dead/OOP? Posted on [08/10/2022] à 02:48

Hi all,

I was just wondering why there hasn't been a definitive statement from Devil Pigs that they are no longer supporting this game.

It certainly wouldn't take long to do and would be good to know before people invest money in it.

Perhaps the moderators know if a statement has happened as it's odd that there has not been any direction at all since the last release (years ago).

Thanks for any information.

I think they didnt get the expected interest, and struggled financily because of it. But I hope they will return with a ks for this later, since that is much safer 😀

There was a p500-style product release just a few years ago, but there are no new releases coming.

There is a very interesting discussion going on in the Discord server right now, with a fan-made campaign in the works.

I am still playing this frequently, and in fact I just adapted sewers for HoBR to simulate fighting under the Hive Cities

That is a great idea! How about opening a new thread to share your thoughts?

I do not think there will be future products.

Very disappointing but I understand the economics of it.

I would really like to see the guard produced due to the varieties of tanks. And chaos also. And traitor guard.

I am another big fan of this system rather than world war two, but one thing i am curious about, are the point buy systems the same? Can 500 points of orks take on 500 points of Soviet Russians? or a detachment of terminators take on the Nazis.

thanks

Generally, yes. The points value reflect the attributes and abilities of the units, so 500 pts of each are just about on par. Most of the Action cards even have the same function, except perhaps for the Alternate bonuses.

I would suggest you use the HoBR rules to cover Assault (the rules about Support for the Assault specifically, since the rest is pretty much the same). There may be other bits, but Black Reach is not really my wheelhouse.

I would not recommend using aviation units, unless all sides have access, just to keep things on an even playing field.

After getting into the Heroes of Normandie Big Red One edition I actually became aware of the Heroes of Black Reach product line.

Because I really like the system and have also backed the latest KS for Caen I decided I wanted to have the 40k based version too.

I would buy 40k expansions in a heartbeat.

So hopefully there will be a return of the 40k line.

I am more likely to expand on the 40k system then a WW2 system.

After Normandie and Caen I'm not sure I will be buying more WW2 stuff.

Unfortunately, DPG no longer has the rights to make any more WH40K content. You can follow the link I previously posted for more information.

I did it too!!! Since I found difficult to setup sewers battles for Stalingrad or Normandie gaming sessions (cause into them the tanks cannot usually go, and in such scenarios tanks are the first choice for armies that most of us do, be sincere!!!).

I then redirected to be used into Black Reach almost all the sewers tiles and related stuff… To properly represents battles in the underhive or into the trenchworks made by the Imperial Guards to defend Gosphora Hive…

As usual policy… GW always does that: it has fear that people will no more buy its products if other companies like Fantasy Flight Games (Forbidden Stars and other games set in the wh40k world) and Devil Pig Games do better games using their IPs!!!

It is a shame for the Warhammer fans to bear such policies of the GW, as it is a shame for the GW itself, that blocks and prevents other companies to continue to produce games using their licenses and IP!!!
