Suppressive fire
Suppressive fire Posted on [05/01/2022] à 01:47

ATTENTION: This post is about the CARD GAME, not the board game.

Hello all! Playing this fabulous game on New Years Day to kick off 2022 in grand style. When a unit has the suppressive fire ability, the rules state that the if a 7 or higher is rolled the target gets a SUPPRESSED marker.

First: This is in addition to a hit if a hit were to be rolled correct? And would it be possible to get 2 SUPPRESSED markers if an 8 was rolled with double (assuming a 9 is needed for a hit, like German card 014)?

Second: Is the SUPPRESSED maker put on BEFORE a save roll (if available) is done? We played it that the save roll was simultaneous to the fire so we applied the SUPPRESSED after the save roll was done, bit it's nor crystal clear and I could see it either way.

Thank much and happy New Year!

Are you talking about Heroes of Normandie/Stalingrad?

Where, then, it is stated that you must roll a 7 to suppress an enemy troop?

Rules for Suppression states that you have firstly to see if your unit that shoots has the relative icon that parmits you to fire suppressive fire salvos…

You cab do that?

Good…

You have to double all the values you see written into the little coloured shields (accordingly to the chosen type of enemy to fire at, like infantry, small/medium vehicules, heavier vehicules and tanks).

Done that you roll the dice.

If your sum (dice rolled + doubled values of "attack coloured shield") equals the enemy defence value, you give that unit 1 Suppression Marker. If the obtained sum is higher or doubles the enemy defence value, apply 2 Suppressed marker upon them…

EACH "suppressed marker" gives a malus of -2 on each die roll and on the "move value" of the hit enemy.

It works similar to the normal type of shooting… But in that case, if you rolled higher than the enemy def. value you apply wounds normally. If the result equals or bypass twice the printed enemy value of defence, that unit is directly eliminated, without applying any wound. Just remove ot from the table since they have been massacred.

Apply then a "red square" morale point to the relative recruitment tile, starting from the recruitment option and going inwards… Until its morale is broken because "red squares" of morale loss are equal or more than those depicted on that recruitment tile itself. I use suppression markers to keep track of such aspect of the game. And it works really fine, try it. Try this method.

Hope to have answered to your question in the bwst way possible.

Have a nice playtime and tell me if you are satisfied by my answer or not, or if I've made mistakes or have been imprecise or such…

Bye.

This is a question about the card game, if I’m not mistaken by the forum labeling.

Unfortunately, I still haven’t played my copy of the card game, so I cannot be of any help. 😳

Ivan this is about the CARD GAME as the forum title says, and as Bart points out.

So unfortunately none of your advice applies. The rules in the CARD GAME are similar to the board game but simpler in many ways.

Bart, the Card game is very good. It's fast, a buddy and I played 3 scenarios in a few hours and it was his first time playing and I had pretty much only played solo up to that point. We ran into some situations that we were unclear about how the rules apply, hence the questions here. Over all a very good system. I highly recommend you get it on the table soon!

Thanks for you time and have a great day.
