@Nostradunwhich – I placed the order for Son Conversion and Commenwealth 2.0. Weight and size about two std card decks.

For all your talk on preventing damage and packaging it was sent in a 17 x 22 thin white envelope with a thin lining of bubble wrap, certainly not the 1k of packaging to ensure it is well cared for, not even 3g to protect 175g of cards, not the estimated 1Kg I paid for in fact .3% of that.

I feel that you meant well but you and possibly DPG are not aware of the reality.

You charged me more than your published rates someone making as much profit as the product price, it does not seem good customer service to me.

I feel ripped off for trusting you and supporting you for years.

If you were charged for 501g+ for shipping and the package was <= 500g then that is a genuine complaint that you should take up with DPG.

The same if your product was received damaged as the result of inadequate packaging.

It's not the original complaint that people were commenting on though so it doesn't seem correct or fair to throw that back at them 🙁

What? my original complaint was they were overcharging for packaging, that decks just needed a well padded envelope. Not the 1kg of packaging and high charge, higher than their currently advertised postal rates same as when I originally posted. The order claimed 240gm but the decks are only 175gm, the barely padded envelope was 3gm.

There whole defence was that they need substantial packaging to protect from damage, so they took my money and shipped it with no real packaging not even wrapping the decks in a bit of cardboard.

My above response was they basically don't know what their contracted fulfilment company are doing and believed or made up that the charge is so high to protect my order.

It's not a complaint it is a fact and the images are proof.

You asked, in a public discussion forum for a game, why is the shipping weight so high for two decks of cards.

Members of the forum, who are not employess of the company, gave you their experience of why the charges might be so high.

Now the package has arrived and it's packed in the way that you said it could be, so good for you. However no-one here can offer you an explanation as to your particular case. You need to raise a support ticket.

Based on previous comments on here it seems like either:

1. The site is incorrectly estimating the package weight and DPG need to look at that – but you need to query that with DPG support team.

(Members of the forum answered your question on the basis that the site was correctly calculating the weight and that it seemed plausible given previous experience with shipping and the additional packaging that DPG have been using as time goes on and they have more reports of damage.)

2. The shipping company are not applying the packaging that DPG expect them to be using – but you need to raise that with DPG support team.

(In which case the explanation given by the responses you got was reasonable given that members' experience recently does not include them being obviously overcharged for packaging, otherwise I'm sure someone would have said so and suggested that you query the charges?)

Either way it seems you are owed a refund on shipping, but posting to members of this forum stating how *they* have mistreated/overcharged you does not seem to be the correct way to go about it – you need to raise that as a support issue with the DPG support team.

Well I agree on the fact you got a lighter protection than what you paid for.

I checked how many your package cost us in shipping cost and it ended up costing 15,50€.

To give you an idea of how we estimate shipping fees, we actually made the sum of the products weight and add by default 500g of packaging. That's an average value for everyone and a decision we made since a large majority of order actually deserve it.

Sometime peopple pay a bit more than what they should. I can also tell you peopple having for 200+€ orders pay less packaging than what they need.

As I also said, volume is something to keep in mind. Two storage box weight less than a kilogram sure, but will cost like one because of the size of the package.

Take also in consideration we got no benefit with shipping fees. We directly apply the price we paid for every shipping to you.

Anyway I can offer you a refund of the difference between 500g and 1Kg for the shipping in zone 5

Sorry for being 'late to the party', I have not been on the forum for a bit.

I must admit I am very surprised the packaging was that light, and I certainly understand Starman being upset. That was not the level of packaging as I had understood it.

Thank you to Paul for stepping in with the proper procedure, and hopefully Basile's solution helps.
