Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [09/03/2021] à 20:07

As most of you know, the Kickstarter campaign went live!

I'd say this is a good place to bundle new questions?

I'll go first. Anyone else noticed that new Turmstellung on the bottom right of this preview?

Are the terrain tiles the same as the ones in the first version of HoN?

Are the beach tiles the same ones from D Day?

The terrain tiles from the core box are the same so that the new box is still compatible with all old expansions.

Big Red One will feature new scenarios, however.

These are different.

The bunker formations are different. The new bunker setups from Omaha Beach feature trenches, which the bunkers from D-Day did not.

Omaha Beach also features destructible Sea Walls, which give directional cover, a new type of defensive bonus.

A comparison:

Beaches from Omaha Beach, with preprinted anti-tank defenses.

Beaches from D-Day. These had the bunkers as terrain tiles, instead of preprinted like in Omaha Beach. Preprinted terrain features save a lot of time during setup, especially with tons of little item like trenches, barbwire and anti-tank defenses.

Look at Bart's post 2 above yours…

You see the set of 6 tiles, and then 3 of the other sides (which were unlocked by the pre-launch campaign). The rest wait on unlock as part of the Kickstarter campaign (I guess).

The backside will be revealed during the campaign… you're in for a big surprise. 😎

Is anybody else facing problems with the Kickstarter?

I have placed my pledge and on the Kickstarter page it said that it was successful, but then I did not get a confirmation mail and the project does not show up in my profile.

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 17:36

😯 😯 😯 😯 YES! There's an upgrade pack! That's good news. It dissapeared from a lot of communication and was talked about in a topic somewhere.

Great news that it's back <3 I might purchase that to update my corebox.

So just to check if I'm right:

It includes the new cards, new arty and airplane options, rules, and unlocked stretch goals?

Excellent stuff that you support the veteran players like this 🙂 🙂

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 17:48

No the cards are not in cowboy but they are the same as from pig from hell ks

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 18:15

Exactly, the new card decks are not included in the upgrade pledge but will be available separately as an add-on, in case you missed last year's Kickstarter.

According to the core box content description, it also contains 3 punchboards with buildings and overlays (in addition to the 6 terrain tiles and 6 unit punchboards).

Do we already know what there punchboards look like? Do they contain any new content?

I am asking because these punchboards do not seem to be part of the upgrade pledge.

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 19:05

It seems that the buildings/overlays are part of the unit boards

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 19:29

aaah! I see the post with the new information now! Thanks 🙂

I don't see the card upgrade option on the kickstarter? Although I guess that's te 5 euro's more option that comes with the entire corebox?

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 21:45

Hello! i will go for the updater pledge. But what about labels? according to pictures in the campaign page, colors of platoons in the base game will be different… so we will need new labels and maybe new boxes for units.

Bye, Luca

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 22:00

Well the labels usually come with the storage and there is no storage in the upgrade kit so I'm guessing that you would need to add on the storage and then you would get the labels?

Which I can see is a pain if you already have extra storage so yes, it would be nice to get a set of labels in the upgrade kit but since they will be from a different SKU to all the other bits might be a pain to arrange.

Big Red One Edition - Kickstarter Campaign Posted on [10/03/2021] à 22:04

Since Heroes of Stalingrad, the labels for the storage system came with the actual products instead of with the army boxes, if I recall correctly. Last I heard, it was planned to continue in this direction.

That was what I assumed until I saw the explicit mention of three "building & overlay" punchboards. But of course that listing could be in error.

I jumped in for the Cowboy level. Great idea to offer this.

I don't think you are reading that right.

The Punchboards entry is a list showing the units included:

2 American infantry platoons + options

– 1st Inf. Div. 16th Inf. Reg. A on board 2

– 1st Inf. Div. 18th Inf. Reg. C on board 3

1 American Field Command and 3 Heroes

– Col. George Taylor on board 1

– Clint on board 1

– Bob Stiltman on board 2

– Sam Fueller on board 3

2 German Infantry Platoons

– I. Bat. – Reg. 304 – 2. Panzer Div on board 5

– II Bat. – Reg. 304 – 2. Panzer Div on board 6

1 German Field Command and 3 Heroes

– Maj. Brassert on board 4

– Karl on board 4

– Heinrich on board 5

– Paul Egger on board 6

3 Buildings and Overlays

– All 3 of the Building Overlays are on board 4

– 1 space Foxhole Overlays on boards 2, 3, 5 and 6

– 2 space Foxhole Overlays on boards 1 and 4

– 2 space Pond Overlay on board 1

– Blast Template Overlays on board 1

In fact, you can see board 1 and board 4 in the illustration, and it shows the 3 buildings and many of the overlays.

There are 3 boards of US tokens and 3 boards of German tokens. The rest of the stuff is scattered among the various boards, as well as various stuff used to run the game, such as Suppress/Activation tokens, Destruction tokens, Objectives, Armor damage markers, Order options, Bonus Tactics, and of course the Initiative Track and assorted markers. Oh, and a flame-thrower template 🙂
