A Great Alternate Storage Solution
The ultimate storage solution! Posted on [21/05/2020] à 04:53

I just got two packages today. The first was the complete collection of every single Devil Pig release for HoN, including all storage boxes and solutions. The second was this box of 100 cardboard jewelry cases https://www.papermart.com/p/clear-lid-jewelry-box-wcotton/11342?searchitemnumber=450182

I thought the official storage was slick until I found this. Wow. What solution. I got the idea from a post on bgg and it is perfect. The clear top means no searching at all for a specific character or unit, and I plan on using a label maker to tag each box with additional includes equipment (flamer, AT rifle, etc)

No idea how to upload images (when I click the image icon it just adds a bit of code with no ability to upload) but here are some pics:

DPG does not store 3rd party images on their site. You would have to use some other file sharing service and link it… which you did 🙂

Looks like a decent storage system. How are you planning on organizing the individual boxes?

Those boxes look like they'll do the trick nicely. Great find!

You can always use your personal BGG gallery if you have a profile there.

With Imgur, BGG and other image hosting sites, you have to copy the image url and paste it between [ img ] tags (without the spaces). You can get the image url by right clicking and choosing ‘copy image address’ in a non-mobile browser.

For example: [ img ]url goes here[/ img ] (again, without spaces)

These boxes you show are a perfect match. I know you can find these over here in Belgium too, in dedicated paper stores. I think it’s what inspired DPG to make their own version.

Got a lot more pictures now that I have the games packed up. This looks absolutely amazing. Just to get some labels for the box fronts for whenever I remove it from the core box.

That looks neat with the transparent lids!

I am going to have to put on my moderator hat for a sec… Officially, the DPG storage solution is the "Ultimate" solution, so I have retitled this thread to "A Great Alternate Storage Solution" 😉

I am very happy with my (offically) Ultimate storage solution.

Since I can already see from the stickers what is inside the boxes, I don't really need a see-through lid for them.

I'm using plastic ones with a fit-as-u-want system at the moment. Only negative is ofcourse they are a bit more pricy then cardboard ones …

Those look good, also don't have the usual awkward hinge problem from the looks of it?

What make are they?

A Great Alternate Storage Solution Posted on [27/05/2020] à 17:42

Those look great! I can’t do that all the units mixed together like that though. I need to be able to as quickly identify which units are available, what their point value is, and what equipment and vehicles they offer.

I need a good organizing shelf or box for terrain though that I can label (trains, trenches, bunkers, etc)

my plastic version….

Oooeeeh! That looks sexy! Could you link the particular boxes you use? That way I don't have to guess and guess wrong 🙁

Also looks like a nice solution! <3 😮 What size's did you end up getting?

A Great Alternate Storage Solution Posted on [05/11/2020] à 13:21

Wow!

A lot of cool and efficiency solutions!

I’m struggling about it as well. I found a lot of cardboard boxes, eyewear cases actually, stored in my shop’s basements.

But they are too large and take a lot of space on my book shelf!

So I’m searching something like the officials. Slim and short.

@any moderator: may I have, in a near future, any hope to see them reprinted?

I really love “official things” to store. Love to watch everything in perfect, labelled order, on my bookshelf.

Today I will try again with a DIY solution. Using Poliplat. Trying to pull a rabbit from the hat.

My guess, based on previous campaigns, is that the Big Red One Kickstarter will feature official storage.

Storage is more generalized today. Stickers used to be included with each storage box, which resulted in an overload of stickers when you bought many storage boxes. Today (as of Heroes of Black Reach and Heroes of Stalingrad), the stickers are included with the product you buy, so no more redundant stickers, just one sheet for the units you bought.

The storage is more generic too, less custom versions (cfr. Desert Wrath, Normandy Elite Squad, Civilians Under Fire, Cthulhu Mythos, …), just one type per army. At this moment there is storage for Germans, Americans, Commonwealth, and the generic World War 2 Storage (light grey, for storing FFI units for instance).

In 2019 there was a pre-order campaign for a storage box reprint. Those are out of stock again, but you might see a reprint, but that's unformed.

Philibert, in France, and the DPG Shop as well, still have HoS boxes in stock, for both the Russian and German armies. Note that these boxes DO NOT include stickers.

My local Costco was clearing these out:

https://www.amazon.ca/Plano-Double-Lockjaw-Organizer-Compartment/dp/B015G6OU9O

And I picked up a few. I have the long recruitment tiles and the vehicles (including the Land Raiders) in the big orange compartments, and the unit tiles, and recruitment options up in the clear compartments on the top.

These are a little bulky, but one of them fits the entire Heroes of Black Reach collection so far, including the order tokens and the sleeved cards (in a deckbox). I don't think I'll be able to get the Stompa in if/when I get that, it might have to go in with the terrain.

I have an extra empty one in case Heroes of Valedor ever gets printed (and we all hope it does).

A Great Alternate Storage Solution Posted on [27/11/2020] à 21:15

It looks really cool! I have to try before, I tried somehow to "sort it out" but the effect was opposite.

Hope it works and life becomes easier 😆
