Aircraft are not present on the battlefield, they fly over it. As such, Aircraft always have Clear LoS to every Unit except those that are inside buildings. On the other hand, all Units that do not have Limited Range and are not inside buildings also have Clear LoS to all Aircraft.
Aircraft can take a Firing Action only if a Numbered or Special Order Token have been placed on its Recruitment Tile.
If an Aircraft can Fire at a Heavy Vehicle, it uses the Side Armor value.
Shooting at Aircraft
If an opposing unit doesn't have the AAA special ability: - It can shoot an airplane only if the airplane has an order token. If that order token is removed, the Aircraft is no longer a valid target.
- It suffers from the long-range penalty (-2)
- It must not have a limited range special ability
- If the unit is a Heavy vehicle, it must use its secondary weapon
If an opposing unit has the AAA special ability: - It can shoot an airplane even if the airplane doesn't have an order token
- It doesn't suffer from the long-range penalty (-2)
- AAA units don't have a limited range special ability
- If the unit is a Heavy vehicle, it may use its primary weapon
- If its AAA special ability has a bonus, it adds it to the dice result for attacks against Aircraft.
Other Notes
You can use Opportunity Fire to shoot at an attacking Aircraft.
