Printing out of downloadable punchboards
Printing out of downloadable punchboards Posted on [18/02/2018] à 00:14

Hi all from OZ

Just wanted to get some thoughts on the best way to print out these

Excellent Punchboards that are coming out. I have dabbled with different

scaling but can't seem to get it right.

Any thoughts on best practices?

Many thanks to the to people making these punchboards and to the guys

at DPG for allowing this to happen.

Does Australia not use A4 size paper?

Just to make sure the boxes are checked:

[] You are printing the PDF version?

[] You selected "Actual Size" (thus turning off "Fit" or "Shrink Oversized pages")?

[] You turned off "Print on both sides of Paper(1)"?

If you did all of those and the scale is still off, then your printer likely has some funky print-area issues that are not happy with the board images.

That is the best I have, maybe someone else has some ideas?

(1) Depending on your printer, selecting "print on both sides" will shrink the print job to leave room for the paper handler to pull the paper back into the printer. I discovered that one the hard way 🙂

Yes Nosta

We do have A4 🙂

Yes to Pdf

Was actually scaling as a % rather than using "Actual Size"

Tried this function today but still oversized by about 2mm overall.

option 3 not used.

When I download Pdf it is oversized at 173% I then reduce to 100%.

Might be as you say be some funky setting in my printer

I am attempting to print to A4 stick label and T/fer to extra

Punch boar stock I have.

Any other thoughts on this process would be welcomed.

Oh! I was assuming undersized, excuse me. There are a several ways an undersized print could happen that can be adjusted.

I am out of ideas on how a PDF sized for A4 is too large… other folks do not seem to be having that issue, so there is SOME mismatch, I would think.

I will admit I am a bit out of my depth on this. I have not tried to print these boards out myself yet.

However, I was thinking about this and realized I forgot to ask about the print bleed. You were cutting to the die-cut lines on the images, right? I expect you are, but better to ask and be sure.

Sorry if I appear to be talking down to you, I don't mean to do so. I am just trying to establish a baseline and make sure all the basics have been taken into account. I am sure you considered it covered by "I have tried scaling it", but I find it better to ensure both sides are on the same page.

You can blame a job I had while I was in school. Was doing data entry for an international company's field support team, entering time records. One that I have never forgotten was:

4 hours – Flight to customer location

3 hours – Wait for system to be available for diagnosis

0.1 hour – Turned disc drive on

4 hours – Flight back

How much time and effort was wasted because an assumption was made?
