On the 73rd anniversary of D-Day, take a minute of silence to honor the soldiers from so many countries that stormed the beaches of Normandy, opening up a second front in the war for Europe and hastening the end of the Nazi conquest.

There are some documentaries with German veteran interviews. Very insightful and highly recommended if you can find them.

You can debate about the German surprise (since they already build the Atlantic wall thus expecting an invasion), But I was definitely not the beginning of the end. The battle in North Africa and Italy was showing the Germans could be defeated by the Americans and Brits, not to mention the Russian effort at Stalingrad and the battles after that.
